  • Mixtures of foods and medicines

A substance that is a food or a medicine and is merely a mixture of known ingredients, or a process for producing such a mixture is not in itself generally suitable for an Australian patent application. If it can be argued, however, that the known ingredients have some interworking or synergistic relationship then a patent attorney may be able to structure a patent application such that the disclosed invention is more than a mere mixture of known ingredients.
